Alguien que se miraba en un espejo
Cuando la leí por primera vez era chiquito pero intuía que era algo muy chistoso. Ahora ya sé quién es Antonio Caballero, qué ha hecho y qué o a quiénes representa dentro de la sociedad colombiana —o, más exactamente bogotana— y creo que es un libro negrísimo y aún más divertido.
Es Sin remedio, una novela que, entre muchas cosas, se burla de la goma izquierdista de la oligarquía, esa misma goma y oligarquía que Caballero representa. Se encuentra a disposición del público de la interné en la Biblioteca virtual de la Luis Ángel Arango.
Para quien quiera algo menos divertido podrá visitar la novela Los elegidos, escrita por el doctor Pollo, también conocido como Cocoon, alias Alfonso López Michelsen. pero no hay versión pública.

Ese libro es de mis preferidos. Por ahí leí que Caballero tardó más de diez años. A mi gusto le salió redondito.

En ocasiones me desespera eso que vos decís de que Caballero representa a esa partida de oligarcas de nuestro país, pero para que, el hombre sabe escribir y ese libro es uno de mis favoritos. Es de lectura obligatoria en casos en los que uno quiere saber más sobre la vida de personajes como el ilustre.

Podrá ser deseperante para ti, pero no creo que sean mentiritas. Por otra parte, “oligarca” no significa “con billete” y eso está bien claro. Y en segundamente, él mismo no lo niega, ni huevón que fuera. Retórico sí, pero alevosamente mentiroso creo que no es.

El libro es excelente. De eso no hay duda. Las poesías vergonzantes del autor son todo un homenaje a esa caterva de aspirantes a poetas que pululan por la ciudad, en especial al rededor de las facultades de literatura. Pero en los últimos tiempos el señor Caballero no es santo de mi devoción.

El libro es bien chévere y como dice ud, la oligarquía no es la del billete necesariamente. Aunque claro, Caballero no sólo se burla de esa goma izquierdista sino de otros más “de derechas” y de lo jodido que es -quizás a manera de confesión- definirse en una condición de clase y que sea, además, consecuente y sensato. Será por eso que me ha gustado tanto (como sabe todavía no lo acabo)…me ha hecho reir bastante de mi misma, de mi familia, de sus amigos y de los mios…aunque bueno, pese a que hace reir, y en eso estoy de acuerdo con ud, es bueno tomárselo algo en serio y pensar un poco más.

Primero, lamento mucho si lo que haya puesto lo molestó.
Segundo, yo sí creo que se burla porque “deja en ridículo”. La burla es un tono y esta novela no es la mera descripción de acontecimientos. La atmósfera no es solemne ni grave y es bastante claro que quiere no ridiculizar, pero si exagerar el cierto grado de ridiculez que podían alcanzar ciertas (tantas) manifestaciones de “la oligarquía” por cortesía de las aventuras de don Ignacio Escobar.
En cambio “Los elegidos” sí es un intento de hacer de “La ética protestante y el espíritu del capitalismo” una novela, con todo lo que eso implica.
